The 10 Bad Foods (and Good Foods to Eat)

Below are recommendations from Dr. Joel Wallach and Dr. Peter Glidden that everybody must  ELIMINATE from their diet.

  1. WheatNo Gluten
  2. Barley
  3. Rye
  4. Oats, Oatmeal – even if it says that it’s gluten free.
  5. Fried Food – nothing fried! You should boil, broil or bake and never more than medium rare for red meat.
  6. Oils – Yes, this includes Olive Oil! NO canola, NO coconut, etc… If it has OIL in the name don’t use it. This also includes anything made from oil, like salad dressing. Dr. Wallach recommends using salt and lemon juice as a salad dressing. No margarine or combo spreads. No mayonnaise. Nothing made from oils.
  7. No burned fats – If you grill your food, try to have something between the food and the fire (like aluminium foil) so the juice doesn’t drip onto the flame and deposit dangerous things on the meat.
  8. Any nitrates added to meat – (ie: deli meats) tell your butcher NO NITRATES or NITRITES!
  9. No carbonated drinks of any kind within one hour before, during or one hour after meals.
  10. Skin of a baked potato (or yam, or sweet potato). If you boil a potato, you can eat the skins.

  • Eggs
    • Poach: This is his number one choice because the water never reaches a temperature greater than 212 degrees.
    • Scramble with butter over very low heat and only until they are just setting up. If you can hear them cooking it’s too hot.
    • Hard/Soft boiled with the yolk still runny. Bring pot to a boil, then put in eggs for 4 – 5 minutes. Take out and immediately place them in very cold water to cool and this will also help you peel the egg shell off easily when you’re ready to eat them.
    • Raw Eggs are good BUT you must increase your “biotin” because egg whites contain a protein that may interfere with your body’s ability to make use of it. This can be helped by taking the Ultimate Hair, Skin & Nails Formula.
  • Salt
  • Dairy
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Pork
  • Lamb
  • Beef—rare/medium rare
  • Veggies
  • Fruit
  • Mixed, Salted Nuts—careful with peanuts and the quality of them
  • Nut Butters—no extra sugar
  • Rice
  • Millet
  • Pure Buckwheat (isn’t wheat).
  • Beans
  • Couscous (made from pearl millet only).
  • Quinoa
  • Corn (GMO Free)
  • Coffee, Tea, Green tea
  • 4-8, 8oz glasses of filtered water each day. Avoid soft plastic bottles.
  • Lard (yes, lard!)

Any carbohydrate (except oatmeal) that is “Gluten Free” is OK.

20,000 ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) points of antioxidants daily.
Here is a list of foods and their ORAC values – CLICK HERE

Below are some of Youngevity’s products and their ORAC values. These are the primary ones that Dr. Wallach recommends.

  • Salt your food to taste – To properly digest your food you need stomach acid and salt helps in the creation of stomach acid.
  • Use Butter – Margarine is simply oil in a solid state. If you cook with butter, make sure the heat is low enough that the butter doesn’t turn brown in the pan.

  1. Hello I’m 19 years old and for the past couple of months after I eat certain meals ive been suffering from heart palpations feeling sluggish and just out of wack. What can i do to cure this ?

  2. I am beginning my 2nd month of Youngevity products and have many questions about absorption. I.e. dairy affecting antioxidants; nuts, rice, beans having phytates that bind to minerals and affect absorption; taking Selenium on empty stomach and EFAs on full stomach. I need some guidelines for maximizing absorption.

  3. I am 56 and need to lose 100 lbs. I heard Dr. Joel Wallach on Coast-to-Coast a few days ago but unfortunately came in at the last 10-15 minutes of his segment. He was saying that you could lose 1-2 pounds PER DAY with the vitamins and minerals he prescribed. Would you send me that information?

    • Hi Bill,
You’re correct. Fish oil is very good for you. Omega 3 and Omega 6 are two of the 90 essential nutrients Dr. Wallach recommends. You get these in a gel cap with the Healthy Body Start Pak. Just no oil in a bottle or cooking with oil.
      Take care, Darren

  4. How do we apply this concept to our 9 month old baby? what Youngevity products are safe and important to use for babies and toddlers and in what form? Are there any products Dr. Wallach suggests for babies specifically?

    • Hi Dima,
Yes, they are 100% safe for children. Ideally (in a perfect world) the mother & father would be on the products 3 months before even conceiving the child. Then the mother would continue taking the products and start the child on it once they are born. Through breast milk and then when old enough to start taking it. It’s just all based on weight. I’ve sent you an email with some more information on what you can do.
      Take care, Darren

  5. My mother will be 80 years old this year. She had a head injury around 6 years ago, a couple of strokes, and a seizure last October. The doctors have her so heavily medicated that she is hallucinating to the point where she hardly has any quality of life any more. I want to get her off the drugs but how do I know how to safely wean her off what those clueless doctors have prescribed for her?

    • Hi Francine,
I’ve just sent you an email. Again sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I’m not sure how I missed this comment?
      Take care, Darren

    • GoFoods (under Youngevity) has some gluten free products and they are continuing to add more since they’ve joined us. But outside of that, I’m not too sure? Sorry I couldn’t help you more.
      Take care, Darren

  6. How can I legally destroy the medical industry, wake up doctors and destroy the corrupt ones? How can I smash the faces of medical leaders for their murdering? How can I legally attack them with intent to make them suffer hard and bring down the whole system. FDA and medical doctors are domestic terrorists and should be treated as a severe threat..

    • That’s why Dr. Wallach is trying to build “an army” of people to go out there and help spread the message and get paid for it at the same time. I’ve emailed you more information that you can check out as well.
      All the best, Darren

    • Hi Jesus,
Your email bounced back to me? You may want to try contacting me directly through email.
There’s a link I’ve sent you for a webinar tonight that I think you’d enjoy.
      Take care, Darren

  7. Hi Darren,

I’m in my 40’s and about a year ago I was struck with multiple severe autoimmune diseases. Since then I have determined that I have at least two seemingly separate inflammatory issues about my health, one of which has since improved thanks to taking Tangy Tangerine 2.0 and Selenium multiple times daily (I’ve watched a fair number of Dr. Glidden’s publicly posted youtube radio show episodes). The second inflammatory issue is that I have found that I cannot eat any fresh or cooked fruit or veggies without my throat (pain & swelling), intestine (pain, bloating & constipation) and sinuses (pain & swelling in my ear) reacting due to contact with this food. All skin allergy tests have been negative. Many of the fruits and veggies foods are organic and I’ve rotated many kinds of raw veggies and fruit with no change. It makes trying to increase my ORAC very difficult. At this point I seem to be doing best eating mostly fat (butter and bacon fat), eggs and meat along with taking the Tangy Tangerine 2.0 and Selenium once a day. Of plant sourced foods I best tolerate refined or processed gluten free carbs the most (rice flour etc.). I also drink around 100oz of filtered water daily and this doesn’t alleviate or prevent the constipation from eating fruit or veggies.

Any advice or information is very much appreciate on how to manage and/or overcome this health crisis I am dealing with.

  8. Hello,
I am a 47 year old male and My testosterone is low at 350 and my free testosterone is 8. I would like to raise my testosterone to 800-1000 and my free testosterone to above 20. Any suggestions on how I could do this with natural supplements or diet?

    • Hi Tony,
I just sent you an email on some things that you can check out to help with this.
      Take care, Darren

      • Why cant you put the answer where everyone can see it? Many people have the same problems; it helps educate them I know by experience. Just a thought great web site, to bad Youngevity is not as good as this one.

        • Thanks Dan. 🙂
The reason I don’t put the full answers on here is that the emails I send are typically quite long and I find it much easier to do by email. Plus, they include webinars from Dr. Glidden that I can’t publicly post. You have to become a member of Dr. Glidden’s website to get access to them, but as a member you are encouraged to email them to people, just not post in a public forum. For anyone interested, you can find Dr. Glidden’s website from this link. CLICK HERE I believe you can still check it out for free for 7 days.

    • Hi Paul,
No, this should help with it.
I’ll send you an email with more information shortly.
      Thanks, Darren

  9. My best friend received a diagnosis of breast cancer last week. They have her slated for lumpectomy, radiation, possible additional chemo depending on the operation’s results and 5 years (!) on Tamoxifen. She has already been on 2-years of anti-biotics due to 40-years of lymphedema and random outbreaks of cellulitis, so her system is entering this upcoming chemical onslaught severely compromised. Thankfully, my annual vacation to see her is at the same time as the operation. She is open to alternative methods and is a proponent of healthy, home-cooked food, but is willing to undergo the lumpectomy and whatever else they tell her. I must walk the thin line between education re: alternative modalities/treatments and supporting what she believes in (regardless of what I think is damaging). Fear must be addressed; I can’t force my viewpoint. I have the first 10 days following her surgery to get her in the best possible state of health before she undergoes 3 weeks of radiation. I will be doing all the cooking and care-giving. She and her husband are retired, 70, and live on a shoe string, so suggestions need to take that critical factor into consideration. Not to mention organic good is outrageously expensive in the UK (i.e. as of 4-18-15 an organic chicken is £25 – $37.00). They have an allotment and grew their own organic veggies, but with this new wrinkle that will not be possible this season. Any suggestions as to how I can effect a foundation for her optimum healing within these conditions gratefully accepted!

    • I just sent you an email of some things you can try and do to help with your best friend.
      Take care, Darren

  10. I am a 45 year old female 5’4″ 220 lbs, no high blood pressure or anything remarkable.the only testing I have had was 3 years ago and was told I have a fibroid, and hypothyroidism (not taking anything for this) I do not take any pharma drugs and refuse to see a doctor.
I take gummy vitamins every day because regular vitamins will just come back up 30 min later. menstruation has always been pretty normal . started bleeding clotting 4 months ago with periodic breaks of 1 day. I’m exhausted, at times I get very dizzy and throw up, but this is bad for me because I have to be on the ground when I do,because I pass out when throwing up. I’m having headaches maybe 1 or 2 a week. My fingernails have vertical ripples,my face gets very flashy at times my skin is dry.
I know I’m dying please help ,betty

    • Unless it’s gluten free, it’s no good. There’s gluten free bread that you can purchase.
      Take care, Darren

      • I really like Peter Glidden, but this is silly. In fact, Dr. Glidden states in his youtube video that “most” digestive systems cannot digest gluten, but that is untrue in the lives of those who have a steady diet of fermented foods.

        • That’s fine and you’re welcome to your own opinion. But personally, I think I’ll listen to Dr. Wallach & Dr. Glidden after my health was completely reversed after listening to what they recommended.

  11. Hi Darren,

I wanted to know what your recommendations are for me. A little background on my state. In Dec 2013, I was blessed with a confirmed pregnancy test, however in March 2014 I had a complicated miscarriage. The reason for the miscarriage was due to 3 large fibroids that I had, one of which was in the uterine cavity and caused a series of hormonal imbalance. Immediately after the miscarraige (DNC) I had to get admitted for a myomectomy to remove the fibroids. One year later my health is in excellent condition, but me and my husband haven’t been able to concieve since. We’ve been trying since Oct 2014 as we asked to wait for the wounds that were created due to the surgery to heal.
A week back I got myself scheduled for an HSG test to see if there was any blockage or scarring that took place because of the myomectomy but Praise God it was all clear and there was no blockage and a very minimum weak spot(scarring from where the uterine fibroid was removed).

I have known about Dr Joel Wallach multivitamins since a year now, but it was not available in my country until recently. I have been using Amway multivitamins so far. I have now order a 6 pack of the Tangy tangerine and wanted to know what is the recommendation of vitamins and their dosage to take pre-pregnancy, during pregancy and post pregnancy.

Also any recommendations from the Dr to assist with getting pregnant after a surgery like that what i have had.

    Thank you, Gret

  12. I see that “Oats, Oatmeal – even if it says that it’s gluten free.” is on the bad list but I also see that “GoFoods™ Natural Oatmeal” is being sold on
    Is it bad or good?

    • That’s a great question. Over the years, Youngevity has and continues to pick up other companies that fit with their model of great health and lifestyle. This also helps spread the awareness of the “90 for Life” message, while at the same time offering more quality products to its members. While everyone really should go gluten free, not everyone does. So while there are some products sold by GoFoods that do have gluten in them, the ingredients are all of the highest quality. Since joining Youngevity, GoFoods has also begun offering more gluten free products and plans to continue so into the future.

  13. I am a female 57 years old and have to have both knees replaced. I am 5 ft, 150 pounds. I exercise by taking water aerobics. I bought the knee and joint package. I am not a meat eater and mainly consume fish, veggie burgers, etc. I am confused on the food I should eliminate. On one hand, I need to be gluten free, on the other hand I have to eat anti-inflammatory foods. Help!!! I want to clean out my fridge of the foods that are bad for me.

    • I would also like information on what I should do. I’m 50 years old and weigh 160lbs. I wait tables and walk about 6-8 miles a day. I have authorities and Dr says could need a knee replacement. I had my meniscus repaired due to degenerative tear and authoritis cleaned up but after a year in a half later all my joints and knee still hurts and other one starting too. I’m exhausted all the time . I’m getting ready to start a new job as a mail carrier and will walk up to 15 miles a day.

      • Hi Carolyn,
Dr. Wallach will always say you can’t undo surgery, so if you can, give him 90 days and see if you get any improvement first.
I’ve just sent you an email with more information that you can look at.
        Take care, Darren

  14. I was over 300 pounds about 3 years ago. Over 2 years i dropped 100 pounds. For the last year I have plateaued and maintained a 90 pound weightloss. I’m noticing that exercise and healthy eating have had no effect since my initial weightloss so I’ve sort of given up and have not been able to drop the next 50 to 60 pounds I would like to lose. I guess my supplementing with vitamins has kept me from putting on lots of weight but I know something is missing. Just not sure what. Also I developed a goiter when I tried a detox product called colonix. Goiter remains about half the size of a golf ball. Also I refuse to go to a doctor because I do not trust them. Any suggestions? I see from the above list I need to knock bread and oils I thought were healthy out of my diet.

  15. Hi, i’m 19 and i suffer from erectile dysfunction since maybe one year
I’ve been eating like crap all my life, could eat at least one cake or one box of sugar per 3 days, always got hard erection anytime, but then, I started to learn more and more about nutrition and became fascinated with it, stop rigorously eating crap and sugar became healthier and there it all begins, i started to get ED , it really started when i stop eating like crap, I really don’t understand, for sure now it’s getting better, since one year i reminalized my body took multivitamin. I do my possible to eat gluten free and the more cholesterol i can, plus, i’m active !
I see some little improvement, but still not getting like a 19 years old now healthy and active guy should.
what do you think about it?

    • Oh and i would add that 70% of the time my hand and feet are cold, like really cold compare to others in the same situation

      • Mesure 5ft6 and 130lbs since like 5 years, i’ve always been fit with abs, even if i eat a LOT i dont gain weight and dont go below 125 lbs too

    • Hi Mike,
I’ve just sent you an email on some things you can do to help with this.
      Take care, Darren

    • Hi Mathieu,
Sorry, I can only comment on the products sold by Youngevity. I’m not familiar with Vega One or most of the other different supplements out there.
All I can say is that I tried many other products before starting on Youngevity in 2012 and none of the other things I tried personally worked for me. My life/health changed after meeting Dr. Wallach in May of that year. Take care, Darren

  16. How does your info when answering questions help others if u don’t share your answers publically? I am curious for your replies. Thx keep up the awesome work!

    • Thanks for the kind words Nancy.
I get this question every once in awhile. The reason I don’t post my answers on here is that I usually send a long message with links to a few webinars that I’m not allowed to publicly post as you need to be an “Insider” of Dr. Glidden’s. However, I can send them to individuals through email. If you’re already a Youngevity member, I can email you a link to a closed group page that’s on Facebook where you’ll find many great answers to questions. Take care, Darren

  17. I have mitral valve prolapse and MTHFR. I ordered the Tangy Tangerine 2.0. What else should I be doing/taking for these specific issues.

    • Hi Patricia,
I just have to say, we don’t treat cancer, (it’s illegal) but to help support and promote the function of the body, I’ve just emailed you some information that you both can check out. Take care, Darren

    • Hi Colby,
Now of course we don’t treat cancer, (it’s illegal) but to help support and promote the function of the body, I’ve emailed you some information that you can check out. Take care, Darren

    • Hi Richard,
That’s an interesting question! I’m not 100% sure about that… I’m thinking it might be okay though. I’ll ask Dr. Glidden next Thursday and I’ll let you know his response. Take care, Darren

  18. My husband was diagnosed with MS…10 years ago now. We just got married…do you have recommendations for diet and which supplements to order? Thank you and God bless!

Sometimes it goes away but then reoccurs?????

    • I just sent you an email with more detail. You’ll want to make a paste using selenium & colloidal silver for this.
      Take care, Darren

    • If you go to “Proper Diet” – “The 10 Bad Foods” page on my website and scroll down, you’ll see a YouTube audio from Dr. Glidden where he talks about it.
Basically, as soon as oxygen touches any oil, it starts to break down and turns into free radicals and cause oxidative damage.

  20. I have raised mole under my breast (on the breast) and on the skin area on my chest under my breast. How do I get rid of that? Also I have dark color skin between my thighs which is embarrassing it is darker than the rest of my skin. How do I get rid of that? Finally I have non-raised moles and freckles over my whole face and I want to know how to have clear even-toned skin? Thanks for your help.

    • Hi Esther,
There’s a paste you can make for the raised mole. I’ve sent you an email with more information on this and your other questions.
      Take care, Darren

      • Hello there, I would also love the information on the moles. Is that possible? I have only a few raised ones and many many flat ones.

  24. Hello,

I am 31 years old. I had a surgery 2 years ago that resulted in a severe infection (was on vancomycin intrav for 8 weeks) hospitalised etc…ive always been really healthy but since then i have not been. I always feel tired, my hair is constantly falling out (Ive tried to not wash it as much, wash it more, all different kinds of shampoos) nothing helps. My hair just looks limp and lifeless and I used to have gorgeous healthy, thick hair. I seem to have developped a sensitivity to shampoo my scalp often get irritated, is itchy and scabs form. Until just recently i devellopped such a sweet tooth that I was waking up in the middle of the night to eat. I think by cutting sugars, breads etc and taking probiotics this is problem is fixed. But how do I undo the trama to my body that this infection caused and get my beautiful hair back? (of course I know i need to manage stress…) but other than that? My doctor says nothing is showing up as out of whack on my blood tests…so tired of looking for answers and finding only lies 🙁 please help

  32. I’m a 26 year old pretty healthy female who’s pregnant with my first child. I just got a call from my doctor saying that at my 10 week check up my sugar levels were exceptionally high. Mind you I’ve never had high blood sugar issues before in my life. I’ve always had issues maintaining them as they would drop really low. Now they want to run a glucose test at my 14 week scan. I’m worried about them diagnosing me with Gestational diabetes. Any advice. I’m not a big sugar eater however I do consume carbs. I just read above that those aren’t good for you.

    • Hi Jessica,
I just sent you an email with more information on this topic.
      Congratulations on your pregnancy! Darren
