The 10 Bad Foods (and Good Foods to Eat)

Below are recommendations from Dr. Joel Wallach and Dr. Peter Glidden that everybody must  ELIMINATE from their diet.

10 BAD FOODS:

  1. WheatNo Gluten
  2. Barley
  3. Rye
  4. Oats, Oatmeal – even if it says that it’s gluten free.
  5. Fried Food – nothing fried! You should boil, broil or bake and never more than medium rare for red meat.
  6. Oils – Yes, this includes Olive Oil! NO canola, NO coconut, etc… If it has OIL in the name don’t use it. This also includes anything made from oil, like salad dressing. Dr. Wallach recommends using salt and lemon juice as a salad dressing. No margarine or combo spreads. No mayonnaise. Nothing made from oils.
  7. No burned fats – If you grill your food, try to have something between the food and the fire (like aluminium foil) so the juice doesn’t drip onto the flame and deposit dangerous things on the meat.
  8. Any nitrates added to meat – (ie: deli meats) tell your butcher NO NITRATES or NITRITES!
  9. No carbonated drinks of any kind within one hour before, during or one hour after meals.
  10. Skin of a baked potato (or yam, or sweet potato). If you boil a potato, you can eat the skins.

GOOD FOODS:

  • Eggs
    • TO COOK EGGS YOU MAY:
    • Poach: This is his number one choice because the water never reaches a temperature greater than 212 degrees.
    • Scramble with butter over very low heat and only until they are just setting up. If you can hear them cooking it’s too hot.
    • Hard/Soft boiled with the yolk still runny. Bring pot to a boil, then put in eggs for 4 – 5 minutes. Take out and immediately place them in very cold water to cool and this will also help you peel the egg shell off easily when you’re ready to eat them.
    • Raw Eggs are good BUT you must increase your “biotin” because egg whites contain a protein that may interfere with your body’s ability to make use of it. This can be done by taking the Ultimate Hair, Skin & Nails Formula.
  • Salt
  • Dairy
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Pork
  • Lamb
  • Beef—rare/medium rare
  • Veggies
  • Fruit
  • Mixed, Salted Nuts—careful with peanuts and the quality of them
  • Nut Butters—no extra sugar
  • Rice
  • Millet
  • Pure Buckwheat (isn’t wheat).
  • Beans
  • Couscous (made from pearl millet only).
  • Quinoa
  • Corn (GMO Free)
  • Coffee, Tea, Green tea
  • 4-8, 8oz glasses of filtered water each day. Avoid soft plastic bottles.
  • Lard (yes, lard!)

Any carbohydrate (except oatmeal) that is “Gluten Free” is OK.

20,000 ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) points of antioxidants daily.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT DR. WALLACH SAYS YOU SHOULD DO:

  • Salt your food to taste – To properly digest your food you need stomach acid and salt helps in the creation of stomach acid.
  • Use Butter – Margarine is simply oil in a solid state. If you cook with butter, make sure the heat is low enough that the butter doesn’t turn brown in the pan.

    • I typically have a small amount of salted roasted cashews daily and yes, salt is needed in our diets.

  1. Do you have any thoughts about drinking distilled instead of filtered water. I have heard some say distilled water leaches minerals out of the body but others say that is not the case. Does Dr. Wallach or Dr. Glidden have an opinion about this?

    • The last that I heard and could find from Dr. Glidden on this topic about distilled water (last year) was that he was still investigating this and has not come to any conclusion on it yet as there is so much conflicting information regarding distilled water…

    • To be honest, I’d never heard of it before so I looked it up and it looks like a great product to me. I’ll be looking for it myself. Thanks!

    • Peanuts (Peanut butter) are not 100% bad, but Dr. Wallach leans on the safe side, so that’s why he recommends to stay away from them unless you know where they came from.
Peanuts are actually a legume, not a nut and the problem is that they have a history of a possible fungus that grows on them called aflatoxin and can be harmful to the body, especially the liver. Typically, we don’t know or can control where the peanuts are coming from when we buy things from the supermarket, so he just mentions to stay away from them as a blanket recommendation. However, if you know the quality of the peanuts you are buying and are sure they are aflatoxin free, you can go ahead and eat them.

    • You can get your Omega 3, 6 & 9 through EFA supplements or by healthy food. Fish, organic meats, raw nuts/seeds, egg yolks…

  2. oats has been brilliant to me, so Glidden rating it as unhealthy is very confusing. l am not gluten senstitive. please explain.

    • Sometimes you’ll see out there that you can get gluten free oats (all wheat, barley & rye have gluten). Even though the oats can be gluten free, they still contain a protein in them that acts in the same matter as gluten, so that’s why he says to stay away from those type of oats as well. You can watch the video and see what gluten does to your intestine. While you may not feel any side effect as of yet, it is still doing damage. http://nomdforme.com/proper-diet/why-gluten-is-bad-for-you

  3. Just a short mention of eating non-GMO. And what about the toxins sprayed on all fruits and vegetables? The word “Organic” appears nowhere on this page. Are these Dr’s really saying that toxic chemicals are ok to consume?? I’m sorry, there is something wrong with that. These toxins cannot be washed off. They are in the soil and inside the food, ESPECIALLY the glyphosphate in Ready Roundup from Monsanto that Europe and California has just classified as carcinogenic. And since when is homogenized dairy good for you? Most of the cows are fed a straight diet of GMO corn and soy. Where;s the truth about health? I just don’t see it here. Sales pitch is good, but common sense says something else is going on here>

    • Hi John, I couldn’t agree with you more. If people can afford to eat organic, they 100% should do so or grow their own vegetables if possible. And everyone in the world should avoid GMO food!
In fact, Dr. Glidden just did a new webinar tonight on this exact topic. He even stated he’s now making this official that it will be #11 on the 10 Bad Food list. (Food that’s not organic or contains GMO’s) It was kind of an unwritten rule already anyway, but I’ll make sure to add it on here as well. You’ll also see that the Beyond Tangy Tangerine is 100% organic and non-GMO, so I’m sorry if you thought we didn’t think that was important. In fact we could go on and make this list much longer than it really is, but then it would be even more overwhelming than it already is for most people. These 10 (or 11) bad foods are the worst of the worst and must be avoided.
If you are in a country or state where you can buy raw milk, I would highly suggest people purchase that instead.
There are a number of great health webinars that Dr. Glidden has done if you’re interested in watching any of them. Just let me know.
Also, I don’t try and sell anything to anyone. I give people the information and it’s up to them to make an informed decision on whether or not they want to try the products and I’ll be glad to help them along the way if they do. Thanks to Dr. Wallach back in May 2012, I regained my health back and also saw what it did for so many other people. The only reason why I do this is because I love hearing testimonials from people and enjoy dealing with people that know things aren’t right in the world and are looking for something else to help them regain their health back.
      Blessings, Darren

    • Spirulina is gluten free and good for you.

Wheatgrass: The Gluten Intolerance Group, a national celiac disease support organization, has researched the gluten- free status of barley and wheat grass. Here is what they have concluded: US Department of Agriculture research chemists who specialize in wheat gluten and cereal proteins say gluten is only found in the seed kernel, the endosperm, and not in the stem and leaves. The American Association of Cereal Chemists agrees, according to a statement by the group. If the grass is cut from a growing plant and does not include the seed kernel, it should be safe for those who follow the gluten- free diet.

Chlorella is from algae and good for you as well.

        • Hi Shawn, I just sent you an email with more information you can check out. Herbs are excellent to take, but everyone needs to take 90 essential nutrients every single day and you’ll never get that from just herbs/spices. Take care, Darren

  4. Why wouldn’t nut butters or opened nuts not be bad as well as oils. they have oil in them, when you make a butter out of it the oil is exposed to air….

    • Hi Lynn,
If there is any oil sitting on top of the jar of the but butters, you’ll want to pour/scoop it out.

    • Hi Alex,
I can’t comment specifically on that brand, but Dr. Wallach & Dr. Glidden say not to consume ANY oils from a bottle.

    • Hi Dina,
It has many good uses for it. Is there anything in particular you are looking for it to help with?
      Thanks, Darren
